Inside secrets - Why having a Mentor and working before you graduate college will help you land your dream job....






Education is by far one of the most important facets of life. You need a good education so you can get a good job, and gain valuable work experience. Which adds value to you as a person, and makes you more valuable to the marketplace which is the corporate world. Having a college degree does say something about your status. It shows that you are a serious student that has goals, and dreams of the perfect job and a better life. Setting your goals and standards in life is an important part of becoming an adult. You must have a competitive nature if you plan on succeeding. You have to become the most aggressive person in the world, someone that will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. The reason why you must have this mentality is simple. Successful people are visionaries they can see themselves in the future. They have a mental picture of the lifestyle that they want and they will let nothing stop them from achieving their goals. Successful people know the importance of TIME and how valuable it is. Successful people are opportunists they see something they want and they go after it immediately, because they know there is a lot of competition in the job market.

Here's a quick example of what I mean.

Let's say a hundred thousand dollar a year job opens up in Radnor Township. The job description is handling all of the marketing and brand management for a hotel chain. Does the job automatically go to someone that lives in Radnor Township ???

The answer is NO we now live in the digital age, Anyone regardless of where they live in the world can apply for that job. Someone in Italy can get that job, someone in Russia can get that job. Just because you have a college education and a degree from a great university does not guarantee you the job, living in the same town that the position is being offered doesn't increase your chances either.

You must have a competitive nature, you must be aggressive, and you better bring your A-Game because I guarantee your competition is bringing their A-Game.

I want to elaborate a bit little more on this point every summer I hire 6 interns to work for me, although this year I did end up with 7 interns. I posted the opportunity on various social media and multimedia outlets. This year I have Two interns from New York, Two interns from the Philadelphia area, one coming from Russia on a j1 visa, and one coming from China on a j1 visa. The seventh intern is from Belarus and he was by far the most impressive..

All of these applicants are the best of the best they are the top 1%. All of them share certain traits they were confident, aggressive, and had great analytical and problem solving abilities. Even though a few of the interviews were done through FaceTime they were all wearing suits

First impressions last a lifetime and professionalism matters” !!!!

All of them speak a minimum of three languages.

So when it comes to the job market remember it's no longer a local job it's a global job opportunity, Anyone from anywhere can get that job. The work from home job market is increasing daily and it's only picking up steam as it goes it's not slowing down it's getting bigger and bigger every day.. Due to all of the technological advancements we have in today's society we now live in a global marketplace. This technology spans all around the world and as companies expand their corporate empire they are utilizing the internet more and more. They are adapting their businesses to meet the needs of their consumers. They are opening new stores in different countries and increasing their profit margins by hitting a whole new demographic. So this summer instead of hanging out at the beach, or doing nothing productive. I strongly suggest going out and getting a job and gaining some valuable work experience, or finding an internship. Because you will definitely need a strong work history if you ever want to be considered for a job in the corporate world.. If you have no work history you have no chance of getting that dream job.

Corporations do not hire people with no work history because you have no work references, no credibility, no past performance reviews, no marketable skills.

So that degree you worked so hard to get is not even worth the paper it's printed on. So that PHD that you're holding now stands for

So if you want to be taken seriously as an adult you need to start acting like one now. Welcome to reality no one ever said it was going to be easy, but if you put in the time and the effort it will be worth it in the end.. This year I had 900 applicants 800 got immediate responses “Thank you for applying but the positions have already been filled” No work experience = No job !!!!!

The last hundred people all went through the interview process and a lot of them looked really good on paper, but in person not so much.. A few applicants wore sweat pants and sweat shirts to the interview, and thought because they went to an Ivy league college like Yale they had the job in the bag....

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, so Wrong it's not even funny..

Other people had no interpersonal skills what so ever. Quite a few people choked under pressure, and had nothing of value to say, nor did they ask any questions.

Only 7 people met all of the requirements and made it through the interview without choking. They knew how to answer every question, they had an air of confidence you don't often see. Only one girl had more moxie than the rest, she knew she nailed the interview, because when I asked her if she had any questions for me. Her response was priceless- She said “ Who are the other 5 people I'm going to be working with” ? So I looked at her and said oh you thought you got the job ? The expression on her face was PRICELESS... I still have 43 or 44 more applicants to interview before I come to a final decision. She looked at me and said I'll see you in 6 weeks we both know I got the job.. She pointed to herself with her thumbs and said I got this, then extended her hand. I shook her hand and said you are correct you got the job Congratulations..

So if you want that dream job your resume better reflect that you are a serious business professional and you have something of value to offer your future employer other than a degree with your name on it.. If you are still in college I am quite certain you can find a few students that graduated last year. I want you to find the students that had no prior work history and ask them how hard was it to find a job after graduation ?? How many interviews did they go on ?? Ask them if they're currently working in your dream job ?? Next I want you to find a few more recent graduates that worked every summer they were in college. Ask them the same three questions. I guarantee you get completely opposite results. The Students that worked every summer will have better jobs with higher starting salaries.. The people with no work experience will have lower paying jobs, and quite a few of them will probably be doing jobs that they did not go to college for, or they might still be looking for a job.. When you have work experience you have references, you have a higher skill set, you are more valuable to the marketplace. Seriously ask around don't take my word for it find out for yourself and you will be shocked at the responses you get.. I'm telling you this because these are lessons they don't teach in college, and parents don't teach these lessons at home..
